dezső l. beke began his academic journey in debrecen, hungary, attending secondary school from 1960 to 1964. he then pursued a degree in physics at l. kossuth university, debrecen, where he earned his master's degree in 1969. his passion for physics was evident early on, as he continued his studies to obtain his doctor of science degree in 1975 and later earned the prestigious candidate of physics degree from the hungarian academy of sciences in 1981.

prof. beke dedicated his entire academic career to l. kossuth university in debrecen, where he held various positions within the department of solid state physics. beginning as a young assistant professor in 1969, he rose through the ranks to become a full professor by 1993. his leadership extended beyond teaching; he served as the head of the department from 1990 to 2008 and held roles such as vice dean of the faculty of natural sciences and vice rector for research. even after retiring as a full professor in 2015, he continues to contribute to the university as professor emeritus.
