Born on November 4, 1991, Wenjun Yuan embarked on his academic journey at Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Process Equipment & Control Engineering in 2013. Excelling in his field, he continued his education at the same institution, enrolling in an MS-PhD track in Chemical Process Machinery under the guidance of Prof. Jianqiang Deng. By 2015, he had transitioned to a PhD program in Power Engineering & Engineering Thermophysics, again mentored by Prof. Deng. Yuan's quest for knowledge then took him to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he pursued a Joint PhD in Fluid Mechanics, guided by Prof. Helge I. Andersson and Adjunct Prof. Lihao Zhao, completing it in 2018.

Yuan's professional career began at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he has been making significant contributions since 2018. Initially serving as a Research Scientist at Temasek Laboratories, he advanced to the position of Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2019.
