Excelling in his field, he continued his education at the same institution, enrolling in an MS-PhD track in Chemical Process Machinery under the guidance of Prof. Jianqiang Deng. By 2015, he had transitioned to a PhD program in Power Engineering & Engineering Thermophysics, again mentored by Prof. Deng. Yuan's quest for knowledge then took him to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he pursued a Joint PhD in Fluid Mechanics, guided by Prof. Helge I. Andersson and Adjunct Prof. Lihao Zhao, completing it in 2018.
