Dr. Nazanin Irani's academic journey began with a solid foundation in civil engineering. She obtained her B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Iran, in 2014. This was followed by an M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Graduate University of Advanced Technology, Kerman, Iran, in 2017. Her passion for geotechnical engineering and dedication to academic excellence were evident early on, as she achieved the highest GPA in both her M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs.

Dr. Irani's professional career is marked by a blend of academic research, teaching, and practical engineering experience. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, and Environmental Geotechnics at Ruhr-University Bochum  (RUB), Germany. Prior to this, she was a researcher in the Department of Soil Mechanics and Environmental Engineering at Shiraz University of Technology, Shiraz, Iran. Her professional experience also includes roles as a designer of civil structures, construction manager, and self-employed physics and mathematics teacher.

Dr. Irani has made significant contributions to the field of geotechnical engineering, particularly in the development of constitutive models for simulating the behavior of granular soils. Her doctoral research focused on creating a model to simulate the effect of particle breakage in Geotechnical engineering granular soils. This research, conducted at Shiraz University of Technology, under the mentorship of Prof. Ali Lashkari, culminated in a highly regarded Ph.D. thesis.
