Muhammad Afzaal's academic journey began in Islamabad, Pakistan, where he earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from SZABIST in 2018. His master's thesis focused on developing a recommendation system for tourists based on their opinions and behaviors, showcasing his early interest in machine learning and AI applications. In 2024, he completed his Ph.D. at Stockholm University, Sweden, specializing in Explainable AI in Education. His doctoral research aimed to develop and evaluate AI-based self-regulated learning tools, underscoring his commitment to enhancing educational technologies.

Professional Endeavors 

Muhammad's professional career is marked by significant contributions to both academia and industry. From September 2019 to March 2024, he served as a Ph.D. candidate and researcher at Stockholm University, focusing on Explainable AI in education. He also taught and supervised students, covering advanced topics such as NoSQL, Big Data Analytics, and Parallel Programming. Between January 2020 and October 2021, he worked on developing machine learning-based prototypes for school education, including auto-grading exams and analyzing teachers' lecture behaviors. Additionally, Muhammad has held the position of Machine Learning Researcher at EDAIDER, where he conducted research part-time.
